Rittal opens its sixth branch in Australia

Government agencies opt for security and energy efficiency

26.09.2011 Rittal opened its sixth branch in Australia. The office in the capital city of Canberra near the government district also houses a 24-square-metre fully functional data centre in a Rittal security room. The live data centre designed as a showroom is designed to vividly present energy-efficient and secure IT solutions to the political decision-makers in Canberra. Because security and energy efficiency are also important to the public authorities on the fifth continent.

The new Rittal branch in the Australian capital city of Canberra houses a 24-square-metre fully functional data centre in a Rittal security room.

Rittal has been present in Australia since 1994 and during this time has opened branches in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The office recently opened in Canberra is located in an IT business park directly across from the ministries. Government employees can thus easily see for themselves the secure, efficient IT infrastructure solutions from Rittal. In the live data centre the company displays its complete range for an economical IT infrastructure. The data centre is in a Rittal LSR16.6 E security room, which was recently distinguished at the CeBIT trade fair in Australia with the ICT Product Excellence Award.

"Security and energy efficiency are right at the top of government IT agendas," says Helmut Binder, Executive Vice President Sales Asia Pacific Middle East at Rittal. "Along with many private companies, the government in Australia has also switched to cloud computing, that is, distributed data processing via different data centres. Using public cloud environments increases the security requirements for data centres. That is why the demand for IT security solutions is especially high in Australian ministries."

Growing IT market

Australia is one of the most interesting growth markets worldwide and, according to the Forrester market research institute, is the eighth-largest IT market with a volume of 43 billion US dollars. In 2010 growth was seven percent. An annual increase of six percent is forecast until 2015.
