Rittal supplies the UPS system for Korea's stock exchange

Top notch business deal

25.07.2011 No stock exchange in the world can afford to have a power failure in its data centre. Thus KOSCOM, the IT service provider of the Korea Exchange (KRX) is preventing power failures in the stock exchange's data centre by using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) from Rittal.

KOSCOM has ordered an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for its data centre from Rittal with a total capacity of 2.2 MVA.

KOSCOM, the market's IT service provider, is equipping the exchange's data centre in Busan with an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) from Rittal. The goods supplied include 44 Rittal PMC 200 modules, eight TS 8 UPS enclosures, and six TS 8 power distribution enclosures. The plant achieves an output of 2.2 MVA. It is the biggest order for a rack-mounted modular UPS that Rittal has ever received. In the tender, Rittal, the system provider for IT infrastructures from Hesse in Germany won out against 15 competitors.

"We are very proud to have gained the confidence of the Korea Exchange", said Martin Rotermund, Managing Director of Rittal Korea. "The main reasons for the customer's decision were the modularity, scalability and high reliability of our UPS systems. KOSCOM was also impressed by the fact that the PMC 200 modules can be replaced or added to while the system is operational."

The Rittal PMC 200 is a rack-mounted modular three-phase UPS system in a single rack. It reaches a power density of up to 200 kW in a single rack and thus in minimal space. The (power) efficiency level is as high as 95%. Because of its modular design, its performance and autonomy time, it can be extended on the fly. The distributed parallel architecture ensures that critical applications have optimal availability. The Rittal UPS modules work on the double conversion principle and are classified as per VFI-SS-111 standard (VFI= Voltage and Frequency Independent).
