The Modular Safe Light offers a safe home for small ICT installations

Easier all-round protection

31.05.2010 In the age of virtualisation and cloud computing, not every company requires its own major data centre to meet its data processing needs. With its Modular Safe, Rittal offers a compact solution for such cases. These are high-value mini-data centres, fully equipped with climate control, which offer protection from unauthorised access and from physical threats, and for one or more 19-inch racks. Rittal is presenting now the latest addition to the series: The "Module Safe Light" is an affordable option for sites where the demands on the physical IT security are lower.

The Module Safe Light is an affordable option for sites where the demands on physical IT security are lower.

Rittal has developed the Module Safe Light for compact ITC installations. It offers multifunctionality and systemtested security, with space for 33 or 47 height units (U) of a 1,000 mm deep rack. The Modular Safe Light protects against fire, water, dust, burglary and corrosive gases. The mini-data centre is supplied complete with a built-in, efficient cooling system, which blows cold air accurately in front of the IT equipment - over the entire 19-inch level. It is supplied with a system of cooling that responds to needs and which allows energy savings of up to 40 percent compared to conventional cooling solutions. Thanks to its light construction, the mini-data centre is also suitable for sites that have lower ground-load capacities.

The Modular Safe Light can be fitted out as desired by the customer, depending on demands. The components available include a fire detection and extinguishing system, an uninterruptible power supply, and a power supply with modular busbars for energy distribution. In addition, the unit can also be retrofitted with a CMC-TC monitoring system. This lets administrators monitor the status of the installation remotely via the Internet. As with all Rittal modular safes, a number of Module Safe Light units can be linked together. This means that previous investments can continue to be made use of as the level of IT equipment grows.
