New location in New Songdo City

10.10.2011 In Incheon, approximately 50 kilometres to the south-west of Seoul in South Korea, a city of the future with international business park is created on the drawing board. It is called New Songdo City. This international business park is integrated in the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) in which Rittal is going to set up a new location with modification centre for more than ten million US dollars.

Martin Rotermund, Managing Director of Rittal in South Korea, signs the contract with the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ).

The new Rittal location in the Incheon Free Economic Zone is expected to be ready for occupancy by the end of 2012. The world's leading enclosure and system provider is going to set up a new location with modification centre on an area of more than 10,000 square metres. Rittal will assemble modern enclosures and IT racks for customers in South Korea there. "We notice a strong demand for high-quality solutions - from enclosures and server racks, power distribution and climate control to IT infrastructure and software. The new location will allow Rittal to meet customer demands for fast delivery and on-the-spot services better than ever before," Martin Rotermund, Managing Director of Rittal in South Korea, says.

"This investment in South Korea is part of our strategic growth programme for the region of Asia, Pacific, Middle East & Africa and sets the course for further growth," Helmut Binder, Executive Vice President Sales and person responsible for this region at the Rittal headquarters in Herborn, emphasizes. "Further major investments have already been tackled, for example in the Rittal locations of China, India and Australia."

The premises in the new location are planned to be shared with Eplan. Eplan is a provider of engineering services for the industry and a company of the Friedhelm Loh Group, just like Rittal. Therefore, it will also be possible to make optimal use of the synergies between the two companies in South Korea.

Rittal's commitment in Asia is decisively strengthened by this investment. South Korea is not only the world's largest shipbuilding market, but also the third largest export market for Germany in Asia, behind Japan and China. Further famous investors in the IFEZ are, for example, Cisco, IBM and the German companies Brose, Hella or Kaco.

Since the foundation of the South Korean subsidiary in 1996, the company has looked back on a successful development. Well-known customers, such as the Korean stock exchange, Hyundai Motors and Hankook Tire, rely on the Rittal technology. The latter have defined the enclosure technology of the system provider from Germany as their factory standard.
